Johnny Sax from Castropignano launches a music CD in memory of his daughter Rita and in recognition of Breast Cancer Awareness Month with a portion of the net proceeds to benefit breast cancer research.
On March 15, 2001 Giovanni Caperchione's life was changed forever. Breast cancer claimed the life of his daughter Rita at the young age of 38. She left behind three small children ages 3 to 10 who hoped they would have a future without cancer. Today, five years later, the pain and sorrow of having lost a child to breast cancer is still there. As he and his family continue to adjust to their loss only the memories remain of a remarkable woman who was so positive in how she dealt with her battle with breast cancer. Giovanni, who lives in Woodbridge, is better known in the music industry as 'Johnny Sax'. A popular musician particularly within the Italian community, Johnny Sax has launched his first CD entitled Pensami, which when translated means 'Think of Me'. He turns 70 years old next week and he began playing the saxophone at the tender age of twelve. Given his passion for music and the desire to somehow try and make a difference in the battle against breast cancer, he has recorded a compilation of 22 all time great hits on a single CD. A wonderful mix of Italian, South American and a couple of award winning English songs including Europa written by Carlos Santana is featured on this CD.  What makes this CD introduction most unique is the fact that it is being launched in memory of his daughter Rita who enjoyed music, dancing, entertaining and always had a smile. A donation of $2.00 from the net proceeds of the sale of each CD is being made to the Rita Centorame Breast Cancer Prevention Fund dedicated to preventing breast cancer and finding a cure in our lifetime. However, during the month of October, Johnny Sax will donate $10 to breast cancer research from the sale of all CD's. No amount of money will ever bring his daughter back.
