Per raccontare un po' dalla nostra storia vi comuniciamo che Ermelinda e Nicola sono salpati il 5 di febbraio dal anno 1951 da Napoli e sono arrivati qua in Buenos Aires quasi un mese dopo. La sua casa a Castropigniano era la casa 9. Ermelinda era la figlia di Maddalena M. Nicolas e di Domenico Sardella che si sono sposati nel 1899. Nicola � figlio di Raffaele e Colette M. Giuseppa. I came to Canada in January 1964 with my mother Nicolia Marinelli and my sister Carmela Marinelli we were being reunited with my father Vittorio Marinell and my other sister Addolorata Marinelli. We arrived in Halifax on January 20, 1964, I still have the passport with a date stamp on it. It was grey and cold and we had another 2 to 3 days of train travel before reaching Toronto. We travelled by ship "The Saturnia" must have been on her last voyage across the Atlantic, it was the beginning when air travel was becoming more popular and economical. I have been back to Castropignano only once in 1993. I was sadned to it almost a ghost town, certainly not the way I remember it, nevertheless still very enchanting and picturesque little Italian village, lots of fresh air and happy people. I met with some people I knew when I grew up and my only cousin still living in town Maria Pizzacalla. My grandfather and his brothers emigrated from Castropignano. My grandfather was Pietro Luciani, born in 1893, died September 5th, 1952, while visiting his home town. I visited Castropignano three years ago and it is a wonderfull place. As one gentlemen mentioned it was hard to see the water turned off at 10:30 p.m.but you get use to it pretty fast.
